Carpe Diem Bonsai Philosophy

The Carpe Diem Bonsai Philosophy

With the implementation of our Bonsai philosophy, we feel we can describe this vision with the artist's interpretation of the Carpe Diem Bonsai Tree.  Although a Bonsai Tree can look small and mangled at first glance, upon closer look you can realize that this tree has been cared for, guided and developed to take a very specific form.  A form that is meaningful and solid.  A structure that is rooted in foundation and growth. This is our philosophy at Carpe Diem.  We create the solid foundation that our clients can “root” themselves in.  A foundation that allows for development and growth in the direction that is best for them.  A growth that opens them up to realize that they are capable, strong and beautiful.

Taking the image of the Bonsai tree and applying it to Carpe Diem, we feel that there are four separate levels to "our" tree.  At the root level are the Carpe Diem foundations that we follow day to day.  This includes our class GETS CORe infrastructure that we use to create quality and consistency in our classes and individual training structures.  The trunk represents the teaching tools that we use to further establish the foundation or root structure.  These are the handouts, communication and techniques that are used during our teaching that help in transfer of the information given within the teaching process.  The third, or branch layer represents the actual transfer of information to our clients.  This is done through our staff by addressing different communication styles and movement abilities.  It includes how we present our classes, our facility and our passion for helping you as a client.  What comes from all this is are the leaves and blossoms.  This is you as our client.  This is your progress, empowerment and success.  This is your life changing for the better by being part of our tree.  A tree without leaves can not thrive.  A tree without roots cannot provide nourishment. We have passion for our tree and hope you become part of it!

A Message from the Artist...

Hayley and Shawn approached me in fall of 2010 with a wish to create an important image. One which would illustrate their mission to “help people feel good in their bodies." The Carpe Diem staff had gathered to brainstorm heartfelt ways to narrate these intentions.  They liked the symbolism of a bonsai tree accompanied by inspirational language. Hayley and Shawn spoke of the importance of commitment, structure and nurture in their approach to health and healing.  I listened closely and worked to distil these expressions into one phrase. A bonsai beautifully depicts this type of growth.  It is tailored, elegant and very much alive. Many bonsai trees live long, nurtured lives “rooted in foundation and growth."

It has been my pleasure to create this cast paper piece to serve the Carpe Diem image of purpose. It is my hope that it inspires those who enter these wonderful programs with intention to grow.

Best Wishes,
