![]() Education/Experience: I have always been interested in and fascinated by movement. My first true exposure was as a competetive gymnast. Competing for seven years through the elite level, this was my primary sport and took up almost all of my time as a teenager. This led me to coaching gymnastics for an additional five years. During this time my interest in how we move the body grew. Entering into my college career, my intent was to continue through into physical therapy. I began this path at the University of Oregon, receiving his Bachelors Degree in Exercise and Movement Science in 1994. During this time, my physical therapy direction became slightly altered and because of this, I continued on to receive my Masters Degree in Sports Medicine in 1996. I began my career working in a variety of environments in the traditional fitness industry, with responsibilities from personal training to fitness management. During this time, I was exposed to what I feel is a gap between the medical and rehabilitation industry, and the fitness industry and general public. I wanted to fill this gap. Driven by my fascination with neuromuscular function and rehabilitation, as well as the need to transition people from medicine and rehabilitation to full function, I founded the Carpe Diem Pilates and Personal Training Center in 1998. Carpe Diem is a "rehabilitation to fitness" based facility that caters to individuals dealing with diseases and disabilities, as well as general health and fitness issues. Carpe Diem is a host site for Polestar Pilates Education, a international Pilates education and certification company. I am also a principal educator for Polestar Pilates Education, conducting certification courses throughout the Western United States. Philosophy: Specialty: |
